Cumulus

Cumulus is a public art installation designed for the Ernst & Young offices in the Tour First, La Défense, Paris. The work combines hand-blown glass droplets with a cloud-like formation made of resin. The artist’s intention was to introduce a natural element inside the building to contrast with the sleek, modern architecture of the tower.

The installation features glass droplets that reflect light and create subtle, colored reflections—primarily in shades of green—on the surrounding walls. These reflections not only add a dynamic visual element to the space, but also disrupt the otherwise cold, uniform aesthetic of the corporate environment. The resin cloud element completes the composition, evoking the softness and fluidity of nature within the rigid framework of the building.

By incorporating these organic forms, Cumulus invites reflection on the relationship between nature and modern architecture. It offers an opportunity for those in the space to momentarily step away from the demands of the corporate environment and engage with a more fluid, natural visual experience. The installation encourages a sense of openness and introspection, creating a contrast to the fast-paced, often impersonal nature of office spaces.
