Future Primitive I

During my five-month residency at La Termica Creadores in Malaga, I set out to explore the urban voids left behind by the industrial past of the surrounding area. My approach began with archiving photographs, capturing the textures and remnants of history, while also collecting residual objects from these sites, much like an archivist gathering fragments. These items, silent witnesses of a bygone era, gradually fed my reflection on memory and the transformation of places.

Over time, I decided to mold these residues in cement, giving them an artificial permanence and raising questions about the durability and prestige of our waste. Could a plastic water bottle, over time, become the Roman terracotta amphora of the future? This work invites reflection on how the forgotten and deteriorating objects of our time might shape history, while also shedding light on the fragility and symbolic significance of what we deem as insignificant relics.
